Complex rehabilitation with orthodontics and implants
Sometimes people don’t develop all the teeth they should. Congenitally missing maxillary lateral incisors (upper incisors) are common. This can lead impaired functionality and appearance. The young lady pictured here had such a problem. But thanks to the training and experience of Dr. Paresh B. Patel, our team at Family Dentistry of Frisco was able to help.
This young lady still had a baby incisor present in the upper left (see Before picture). To help, we completed a comprehensive exam proposed that she has her remaining baby teeth removed. We then recommended orthodontic treatment to straighten her teeth and dental implants to fill in the gaps where teeth never developed. A dental implant replaces a missing tooth root and allows the dentist to attach a new crown to it.
The patient was excited to learn that she would finally have a smile to be proud of. Following her orthodontic treatment with braces, we completed a bone grafting procedure and then her dental implants were placed. Once the dental implants had healed, full ceramic restorations were placed. She maintained exceptional oral hygiene throughout the treatment, yielding exceptional results. She has now had these crowns for 10 years and the 10-year follow up picture is shown as a close up!
