While dental crowns can be used to replace lost tooth structure, they primarily serve to splint a tooth together. On front teeth, dental crowns can be used to change the color, contour and shape of teeth. Here we see previously placed, unsightly porcelain fused to metal crowns (PFM) that were failing. They were replaced with all-ceramic crowns that have no metal associated with them.
