  • Please be careful while you are numb. Do not drink hot liquids or alcohol while you are numb. You could be numb up to an hour. When you are numb you do not have pressure and temperature sensation, so we want to make sure that you do not burn your mouth or chew the inside of your cheek and injure yourself.
  • Know that post-op sensitivity is completely normal when a crown preparation has been done. If sensitivity lasts longer than a week we would like to recheck the bite once you are no longer numb or laying down. At times the temporary crown can be too high and needs to be adjusted down for the sensitivity to go away.
  • Please baby the temporary crown while you have it. DO NOT FLOSS around temporary crown as this can make it pop off your tooth. Do not eat foods that are sticky, hard or chewy during the three weeks that the temporary crown will be placed on your tooth.
  • We recommend taking Ibuprofen or another mild pain reliever for five days following the placement of your temporary crown, as your gums may be sore due to the crown prepping process and the placement of the temporary.

**Any gum procedures, such as a gingivectomy or a hard tissue crown lengthening can cause additional discomfort when your gums and the preparation for the crown. Please make sure to take a mild pain reliever to ease your discomfort
